University accommodation

Guaranteed Accommodation

Students entering the International Foundation Year in September are guaranteed University accommodation and you will generally be offered accommodation in Andrew Stewart Hall or Andrew Kerr Davidson Hall, provided you apply before 1 st September. This accommodation is offered on a 40-week let basis, allowing students to remain in their accommodation for the duration of the Undergraduate Certificate. Following successful completion of the Undergraduate Certificate the University will continue to provide guaranteed University-managed accommodation for the duration of the student’s undergraduate studies, subject to students submitting their applications by 1 st September and paying a required deposit fee.

Halls of Residence

All accommodation is offered on a self-catering basis and residents have access to well-equipped kitchens with ample cooking and storage facilities. Students need only to provide cooking utensils and crockery.

Bedrooms in A K Davidson Hall have a wash hand basin in the room and shared shower and toilet facilities located nearby. Andrew Stewart Hall has both en suite bedrooms (i.e. shower/wc facilities within the room), or bedrooms with private facilities (i.e. shower/wc located nearby). All bedrooms are fully furnished and all have network sockets installed which enable residents to access the University’s computing resources, including email and use of the Internet for restricted web browsing. A small charge is payable locally for this service.

Duvets, pillows and bed linen, which are laundered by the University, are also provided as standard.

Fully accessible accommodation is available for students with disabilities.

Each Hall has communal social facilities which include a TV lounge equipped with widescreen TV, DVD and VCR and a games room with table tennis and pool tables etc. Each Hall also benefits from a controlled door entry system and a reception area which is staffed 24 hours a day.

Catering

The University provides an excellent range of Catering facilities from the main dining rooms - Haldanes and Pathfoot Dining and Study Centre - to smaller outlets providing snacks and light refreshments, such as Stir Café and Atrium Fast Food Bar and Sandwich Shop.

Dedicated to providing good value food at affordable prices, the Catering Department offers a variety of meal plans to suit all tastes and budgets. Catering deals include Full Board Packages (five 2-course lunches & five 2-course evening meals per week), Half Board Packages (five 2-course evening meals per week) and Flexi-Meal Cards (ten vouchers for 2-course lunches or dinners, which can be used at any time). These pre-payment meal options enable students to enjoy significant discounts over those paying cash at the tills.
