University of Stirling International Study CentreSport and leisure on campusSport The University is considered to be one of the leading universities in the UK for sport. Students will have access to a superb range of sports facilities and services, allowing you to take part in physical activity and improve their sporting performances to whatever level they desire. The Stirling University Students' Association (SUSA) represents and serves all students' interests, and works to make your time at Stirling as happy and fulfilling as possible. Sport for Leisure The University offers an extensive range of sports and fitness classes during semester. Qualified staff deliver programmes for all ages, tastes and abilities, from golf to yoga to weight training. In addition, friendly competitions are organised, with football and hockey leagues and one-day events in tennis, golf and badminton. Serious about sport Inter-University Leagues Stirling has an excellent record in inter-university leagues, competing against other universities in Britain and abroad and producing regular winners in golf, swimming, tennis, football, rugby, netball and hockey. Recent achievements include 11 athletes who competed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, five Olympians at the 2004 Olympics, a double silver medallist at the 2004 Paralympic Games and a double silver medallist at the 2005 World Student Games. Top Sports Performance Stirling has a long and distinguished record in supporting high level sports performers so that they can combine academic study with the pursuit of sporting excellence. This is achieved through an International Sports Scholarship Programme which offers invaluable support for talented sports performers with an excellent record in national level competition. Leisure The "Best Bar None" SUSA recently won the “Best Students’ Union in Scotland” award and is one of only two Associations in Scotland to achieve “Best Bar None Accreditation” for excellence in Corporate and Social Responsibility in both 2005 and 2006. SUSA is run for students by students, and all members can get involved in the running of the Association’s activities. You will automatically become a member of SUSA when you start the Undergraduate Certificate programme. Entertainment for everyone SUSA provide an entertainment programme which appeals to all student tastes. Best known are the bars and campus nightclub, which provide a social focus for the University. Macrobert Arts Centre This well established arts centre, located at the heart of the campus, has exceptional facilities including a cinema, a theatre and its own cafe bar.
