the city of STIRLING, SCOTLAND

The city of Stirling is in the heart of Scotland, one of four unique countries that make up the UK. Scotland is a compact nation of 5.1 million people and is a country with a strong cultural identity and a proud history.

Scotland

Scotland has its own distinct culture, education, law and political systems, giving it a unique and diverse character, which differs from its southern neighbour, England. Outside the main towns and cities is some of Europe’s most dramatic and beautiful countryside; boasting mountains and moors, islands, lochs and glens, the scenic attractions of Scotland are renowned worldwide. Stirling is especially fortunate in having so much of Scotland’s best scenery within easy reach. From walking and canoeing, mountain biking to sailing, Scotland has everything for the outdoor enthusiast.

Stirling - A historic city

Stirling has a long and colourful history, and many impressive remnants of the city’s past are still standing, including the magnificent Stirling Castle. Stirling’s location gave it a central role in Scotland’s once turbulent history: the city was, for many centuries, a royal residence, saw kings and queens crowned in its principal church and hosted the Scottish Parliament.

Edinburgh & Glasgow - major european cities close by

A major benefit of Stirling’s location is that it is within the main population hub which includes both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Both of these internationally-renowned cities have their own airports and both are less than one hour from Stirling.

Weather

The Scottish weather is varied, but the climate is usually temperate – there are very few extremes. in summer, the average temperature is 18 - 22°c ;in autumn 8 - 11°c; in winter 0 - 10°c and in spring 4 - 10°c
