Martin CollegeGraduation NewsParramatta Campus Martin College’s Parramatta Campus held its annual Graduation celebration on Friday 12th November at Rydges Hotel, Parramatta. It was a wonderful evening with students and their parents - along with staff and special guests - celebrating their achievements and successes over the year. It was also a night to recognize some outstanding students who over the year have shown high academic achievement, enthusiasm, a capacity for hard work and a pleasant interpersonal manner. Awards were given to Kylie Lorenc for Outstanding Events Student, Laura Cameron for Outstanding Legal Student, and Mira Batch and Geoffrey Sawers for Business Students of the Year. The top award of Student of the Year 2004 was awarded to James Vilcek, who was taken by surprise with the award but elated with the achievement. His mother and grandmother were there to share in his joy. Our Events students also put together a creative presentation of photos from a cruise they had organized earlier in the year which had everyone laughing. The students also managed to raise money from the event allowing them to buy a DVD for the college which they presented on the night. The evening was enjoyed by all and we wish our students all the best of luck in the future.

Martin College Connect Finally we have some news about a recently-formulated initiative to bring past students together to talk about career opportunities and meet with old friends. Over 30 Martin College graduates met for the first ‘Martin College Connect' get-together recently in Brisbane, and Queensland Area Sales Manager Mr. Geoff White said the event was a success. "It was great to see students talking about how their careers have taken off, and looking into opportunities for professional development. They were encouraged to look out for opportunities to further their education while working full-time", he said. The next event is scheduled for April 2005 and will feature some guest speakers from a range of industries for their professional development.
