THE NEW BRIGHTON STUDY CENTRE IS ALMOST COMPLETE
The new Brighton Study Centre was unveiled last month when the scaffolding and covers were removed from the outside of the building.
We are happy to report that the building project is running to schedule and the brand-new college and residence will be ready to welcome students during the autumn break in October 2007.
The Study Centre will be an environmentally-friendly building, emitting 40% less carbon dioxide than other buildings of a similar size. There will be low energy lighting, high insulation including planted roof areas and a computerised system which will continually monitor the efficiency of the building and its energy consumption. When the computer detects that a room is empty (through movement and CO2 sensors) the heating or cooling and lighting to that area is reduced or turned off. There will even be bird boxes on the roof to encourage vists from swallows and swift.

Building Futures - New school in Brazil
Plan International have helped us to identify the most suitable location for our next school project: the Rosalina Zaidan school in the Codo Novo district of Maranhou, in northern Brazil.
This is very exciting news – it means that within 12 months we will have built three schools in three continents: Asia, Africa and South America.
With a school in each major continent, in similar time zones to our own schools, it opens up a wealth of possibilities for twinning our own centres with the schools we’re building.
An update with photo's and full report to follow soon.
